VUID - ERP

VUID - ERP

Jason Rudolph and Nathan Aherne were the founders of VUID. It was founded in February 2013 with the intention of creating a real time ERP system that provided its customers with up to the minute data about their business.

In November 2015, after a year of full time development, VUID had achieved Minimum Saleable Product, which was an exciting achievement. We hit the milestone just in time for Web Summit 2015 in Dublin Ireland where we were invited to showcase the product.

When creating a software product like VUID, scalability and uptime are paramount. Many people develop software with the view that it can go offline, that it can have bugs and issues, that it can be unreliable. We didn't believe that to be true. When a piece of business critical software goes down, it's weird for customers and users. Imagine going to your local coffee shop and some days its there and on other days the building is completely gone. To solve this issue, we created a globally scalable software system that could be upgraded, modified, fixed, updated or changed in real time and our users would not know. They could continue to do their work and VUID would heal in the background.

VUID was made up of over 48 different Apps that integrated with each other, with each App having its own redundant containerised servers.

VUID was written in NodeJS, running on Tredly Containers, FreeBSD, using PostgreSQL.

It was an incredible achievement to build something so complicated but also so simple.

VUID was was sold in 2016 and our involvement with the product and organisation ceased at that point.
